    SEO Pros please behave

I've been requested to start this forum and it seems like a good idea. So I'm asking you pros to take pity on the newbies that post here. And mods, feel free to move questions in here if they seem appropriate.

Why not just adopt a policy of politely answering newbie questions in all forums?

What would be the fun in that?

Really, I think this is a good idea. This forum is known for two things: being advanced and ... jerks. Neither one is a bad thing but I've heard people mention they were intimidated so this should solve half our problems.

Yes, we should be polite in all forums but...

The fact is some people don't want to be bothered by these questions and this forum will give those people an easy way to ignore them. Those in the mood to help out can. And I don't think it's a one-way street either. I think some of the questions that may appear here will be good fodder for blog posts, etc. After all, it's easy to forget that even our most basic knowledge is valuable to someone.

Also I think it's a good out so that if someone posts spam and tries to disguise it as a newbie question, but doesn't bother to post it in the correct forum, we don't have to bother pretending to be tolerant towards them.

I think it's a good idea. When you read experienced people using their DC PR BL... you are lost. It takes a while to dig it out and it can be fun to have a place where you don't have to feel like you bother the knowledgeable people if you ask something that is kid stuff for them.
Disclaimer : My posts on SEO are just from my observations and I do not say it is a true fact... A real fact of life is that, I'm often wrong...

    Hi Rand,

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you right. I didn't know that SEOR had this sort of reputation. I haven't seen an overwhelming amount of jerkiness here ... that's to say... not really any more than anywhere else ... and, this is my favorite seo forum site; but, I didn't know that SEOR had a reputation of being particularly advanced.

When I think of an advanced forum, I think of webmasterworld as more of the standard for that ..... I'm putting that out there to give some sort of context.

    thanks

Yeah, I've actually never seen any chatter about this either. Was it from anyone credible?
