Contest site (please really review it)

Personally I've found no issue with WordPress and Google, infact since switching to WP back in August for my blog my visitors have rocketed. This month alone googlebot has knocked up over 2000 page impressions, it seems to love it.

As for your site, I counted over 20 occurences of your phrase which I think is possibly a little too overkill. I've found that less than 10 gets the job done, maybe googlebot has noticed this too? I realise it's a competition but I would still tone it down until you're at least indexed and then introduce a few day by day.

When you turn off your CSS your sidebar is above your content. Whilst I don't think the nav being first is a major concern, all your menu items have h2 tags which are a waste as there are 6 H2 tags before your first real h2 heading. Then there is also 'rubbish' in the way such as the Meta section. Google really doesn't need to see this. I realise you've installed a theme on wordpress which has moved things around but I'd either find another theme or hack the one you've got around to layout better.

I'd also say bulk out the front page title but I've not sat down to work out a way to do this on WordPress yet so that may be a job for when you can't sleep..!

Extra pages, as already mentioned, are also a good idea as you control these a lot more, using more structured markup.

PS. You're indexed in Google's blogsearch so that's one step closer perhaps

Ok, so apparently a little more effort is required than what I put in... I can handle that. At least thats what I am getting from the feedback. I think you guys are probably right and will start working on these things. Thanks everyone!

I go from not even indexed to number two and three for the phrase... dont you love Google? Of course Plebian is in front of me... not to mention using my content I figured once he got into the race it would be one between he and Wit. Good work Pleb!!

I wonder if maybe my content didnt throw G off a bit? I mean other than that one phrase it would be really tough to categorize my site. Todd, did it take you long to get your random crap site indexed?
