Wikipedia NOFOLLOW

Wikipedia has added the fracking NOFOLLOW attribute to all external links. There goes hours upon hours of editing and link building down the drain.

Just wondering, since nofollows are a convenience for search engines, can't they also decide just to ignore them?

True, but Google follows them... That is really all that counts. Wiki just does not want to be a content for links magnet of sorts I guess.

Son Of A ♪♪♪♪♪! That freakin blows. So, I guess I'll be deleting the articles I wrote for them. I realize Wikispam is an issue but this is not the solution.

I downloaded the wiki script over a year ago, and back then it had the no follow code in it. It was a pain to get rid of it!!

Yep I just checked a random wiki page and it was full of blinking !. Ewwwww. They've done it before (and reverted). Looks like they're in for another try.

Mano published a nice Firefox trick that adds blinking exclamation points to nofollow links.

I did never even try to get links from W but couple of my clients travel domains did get couple PR6 links from W, but after getting those links i did not even see 1 position higher then before. (i'm not saying they don't have value , just i don't see it for my domains )
