One product but aimed at two countries - what to do with website?

Hey there,

I'm working on a new product and there will be a UK version and a US version of said product. I'm trying to debate what to do with regards to setting up the website geared towards Google optimization. Let's assume my product is called MyProduct, I've managed to register:

MyProduct.co.uk
My-Product.co.uk
My-Product.com

Unfortunately MyProduct.com is already registered and the owner isn't willing to sell it even though it's parked (he wants $100,000 for it - you can imagine my response (it was two words)).

So, if you were me, would you....

1) Just have one site (most probably My-Product.com) and do SEO to attempt to get it ranking well in both countries (e.g. getting 'UK' in the backlinks). If you choose this option would you host the site in the UK or US?

2) Host My-Product.com in the US and host My-Product.co.uk in the UK and run the two websites separately. I'm a little worried about the possibility of the whole duplicate content thing as both sites will be quite similar, but from the search engine's POV it may look like one site has copied the other as they're hosted separately - do you think this will be an issue?

3) Use http://www.my-product.com for the US, and setup a subdomain http://uk.my-product.com to point to a server in the UK via DNS.

4) Setup a subdomain http://us.my-product.com for the US, and setup a subdomain http://uk.my-product.com for the UK. When someone accesses http://www.my-product.com/ redirect to the appropriate subdomain depending on their location.

If you were me, what would you do? I'd appreciate your thoughts.
