Font Size for Search Engines

Is there any specific font to be used? I read somewhere telling “search spiders" do not pick up on content that is smaller than 10.
Please advise.

Thank you.

1. create a page with the content sized less than 10.
2. make the spider index that...
3. check the cache....
4. Share the findings here....

am too lazy... so I ASSUME, they will show the content....

I've seen some use font size 8. If you use less than 10, some people may not be able to read your content (SE's can read size 1 even). I'd use 10.

Yea the same question on SC too.. and the same answer here:

Imo.. Search engines spiders are smart enuff to pick up the smallest of the content available on the website if the code is visible to it..

Font should not be set according to the SE`s but it shud be done according to the comfort of visitors reading it..

I tested this a few months ago: Do search engines crawl CSS files? The test was simple enough: change the name of the CSS file and look for requests from Googlebot and from *.google.com. This test works around any caching of the CSS file, and also picks up any cloaked requests.

End result? No crawling over a two-week period with thousands of Gbot requests for pages (it nicely coincided with a time when Gbot took a deep dive). I keep checking once in a while for the CSS file requests and nothing has come up.

Caveat: I haven't checked since July/August, so right now they could be crawling for all we know - test!!!!

Why do I say this? Because if you put your font sizes in the CSS file...

Good Post eK...

You reminded me of a question again.. If css is excluded using robots.txt file to be cralwed, then can hidden text be detected? havent found a significant answer to it till now..

But i have my own opinion, that anything hidden will not help at all..what say?

There has been a lots of discussion around on this topic.. let me know your veiws on this guys/gals..

Regards

My interest in this subject has nothing to do with SEO but to simply figure out what the SEs are doing on a technical level. So asking me if hidden text helps or not, I'll leave that open for someone else.

I like your idea of hiding the CSS file with robots.txt! So now I have to qualify my test and say that no, the CSS file was not blocked in robots.txt.

I wonder, though, if that's a sign for SEs... hmmm, that would be a good test

Don't forget that hidden text is easily found and reported by your human competitors.
