If the links are good for the Search Engines... yeah. But they must be nofollowed and all... so I'd say they are as valuable as a forum links when it comes to SEO

If you get visits, then maybe it ain't a waste of time.

People with lots of decent followers often get their "fans" to blog about what they tweet.

I must say I follow quite a lot of links tweeted by people I follow. It's like a Stumble-Upon clique

Then again I'm not an active blogger so I won't repeat those links, but others do. So yeah, Twitter can, indirectly, be a SEO tool and it is most definitely a decent SEM tool.

I joined up Twitter yesterday and have been posting mindless updates of my days activities and plenty of people want to follow my tweets so I guess I'll wait and see what happens!

I'd say not so valuable to traditional SEO but potentially valuable for social network marketing but it takes discipline and, while I've been working on it, it's way too early to tell if the results will be worth it.

Some say that if you (re)tweeted the link, you won't blog it.

So I guess it's definitely helpful to attract traffic to an awesome post/news, but might not work well for a so so post. It depends.

but then again, there are still tons of people who use twitter out there who would follow another Twitter not because of liking his tweets, but because he wants to have more followers.

Twitter is a good social marketing tool..........but i guess not useful from SEO perspective...however once you get popular, there might be a chance that people will link to you naturally.....
