Google Takes Bribe of $3 Billion!

Google recently allowed one of its employees to be interviewed regarding click fraud. You can read the exclusive article at the Marketing Pilgrim. Overall the interview is an interesting read if for no other reason than Google rarely talks about click fraud. However, as frequent visitors to this blog might suspect, I have a few problems with Google’s assertions.

Yeah, I gotta say, that whole exclusive left me wondering where the proof was. I mean, hey, I can do up a couple of snazzy graphics that shows that I make $6,000,000,000,000 per year. And then I can give Skitzzo an exclusive interview, showing him those graphics. Of course, I don't show him any checks or bank statements, but I make him feel special because I've picked HIM to do an exclusive, so he's inclined to believe me. So, he then shows these pretty charts to the world and exclaims that DazzlinDonna makes $6,000,000,000,000 per year! Um...ok...

That's why I asked (in the comments of the original article) if he'd seen any actual data, or if he'd just seen the pretty graphs. The answer that he gave, "while he didn’t show me actual numbers, I quizzed him on what numbers each chart represented, and got the numbers that way." didn't exactly imply proof of any sort to me.

Now, I'm sure Andy believes whole-heartedly that what he was shown is absolute proof, but it sounds more like he was a victim of a nice spin-job. If Andy, on the other hand, had titled the article, "Google CLAIMS their click fraud rate is less than 2%", then that would be completely different.

Couldnt agree more Donna. He just got snowed but feels good about it because he got the exclusive. Personally I'd have spun that article into a "Look what Google tried to pass off to me" type article.

Calling them out would have been even better linkbait, IMHO.
