If you provide good and fresh information and contribute to the conversation it's not spamming. If you're just promoting yourself, cross-posting the same information on multiple forums, etc. it's spamming.

The real value of a forum is that you become part of a community that is a great resource for information in your line of work or field of interest. Signature links, etc. are really worth that much.

    Hi,

I completely agree with you. Fresh and unique information is always welcome. And, main purpose of forum is to be a part of it and contribute your best by providing and sharing your knowledge.

there are some who use forums to spam. the keep on posting the same post in every forums. actually, at first, you will nor recognize it as a spam but if you are an avid fan of forum postings, you will that same post in most forums. i do recognized some because the username that he/she is using are also the same. they do is in purpose because they only joined once, posted no quality content, leave a link and never go back. we should stop this because it destroys the reputation of a certain forum.

you know what guys, if we just use forums in a proper way, we'll know that forums is a better place to learn not to spam.

there are members out there who does post spam messages on forums, the good thing about forums is that they always have staffs and dedicated moderators that place 'em in the can if they see one dude or two spamming.. although I doubt it if they can limit that much of those crap posters..

Forum posting is not spamming. However there are softwares even that automate this forum posting process and creates spams all over the forums.

Forum posting can be helpful if done in a right way. You can even build good reputation using forums, which will always help you..

Of course you can, but (for example) posting a newbie question on 6 different SEO forums would be overdone: one would get a good answer from one, maybe two similar threads.

Advertising on forums is by default "spamming" -- it's up to the forum rules and the mods if they accept it or not.

I thought this was an appropriate thread to start in......

Forum posting for the sake of SEO is spam. Post in forums for the sake of forming a community (or reputation management if you happen to piss someone off )
