    Post Custom Plugin development in Wordpress

    I have got some ideas from Wordpress documentation. It starts with a function like "add_action". It needs "add_filter" function. I can't understand about "add_filter" function. Would anyone please help me to know about this function?

    Filters are works dynamically. It is also called hooks of wordpress. Main purpose of filters is to modify text before it display on the browser screen. In filters we define an attribute for that text or images so when it added to database or display on screen it change dynamically. I am giving you a simple example of that so you can understand easily,
    When you upload an image in your post that time you choose some attribution for that image by using image upload editor. Following HTML code is result of that image post.

    <img src="http://www.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/rss-icon.jpg"alt="" title="rss-icon" width="50" height="50" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1000" />

    This is the simple example which is done by manually but in wordpress it is done by dynamically using filters.

    Filters normally are used in order to change over the particular text so that it may become more understandable to the user. This thing happens during the time when the browser loads the website. At that particular instance of time, the filter changes just a small pattern of the text or in simple way it modifies the text.
