    Supplimental Issues (Please Contribute)

Ok, well as most of you have heard, apparently a lot of sites are dropping into supplemental results in Google. Not sure what the cause is etc or whether it will stick but I figure by looking at a bunch of sites which have been affected we can maybe figure something out.

I'll go first. My firemartz.com site has gone supplemental and apparently dropped a lot of pages as well. I dont really have any idea why because my title tags are all different and I have no description tags (maybe thats the problem?). Anyway if your site's been hit, please either post the url or if more comfortable, just post what you think might have caused it etc and we can see if the sites share any similar characteristics. Thanks!

I really think it's just a glitch. GoogleGuy has indicated that he's pretty sure he knows what the problem is and that within the next week, all the pages should be back. I wouldn't worry just yet.

I don't think the usual rules apply here. Googleguy didn't step in (WMW) for nothing, as Nintendo pointed out here in another thread...

My main* (old) sites are all still in the main index, and Google added loads of robots.txt-blocked pages too (url only on the serps). My sites are all very different in style, code and shade of grey. A couple of darker pages got magically re-included hehe, title and description and everything.

    But I can't see a pattern yet...

I only have one site with supplimentals of any serious nature errr - 350 some odd pages. All the sections however were removed and so the are rightfully going bye bye as these sections no longer exist.

My own theory - and it really is weak - is an attempt to tighten the screws on what's considered duplicate content and its crashing legitimate sites. Maybe a wrench turn to many eh.

Just to be more specific, GG said:

Based on the specifics everyone has sent (thank you, by the way), I'm pretty sure what the issue is. I'll check with the crawl/indexing team to be sure though. Folks don't need to send any more emails unless they really want to. It may take a week or so to sort this out and be sure, but I do expect these pages to come back to the main index.

There is no reason to panic, with every major update their is a lot of collateral damage. Think back to the perious major updates and remember the confusion and panic that was back them.

That being said ... darn the kid is awake I will fisish this later.

    Easy all,

Was just about to post the following and then I saw this thread:

Basically, Google has not been caching my site at all lately. It hasnt shown a new cache of my homepage for about 3 weeks and basically none of my internal pages are showing a cache at all!

Now, my site has gone from a site: search showing 500 odd pages to 150 odd pages and all of my inner pages are showing up as 'supplemental result'

Has anyone got ANY idea of what is going on and why!? I was only unsandboxed a month ago and this is kind of scary!

As ever, the site is www.energiseforlife.com

Any advice would be much appreciated

    Cheers
    Ross

I had two sites flip-flop. One large one lost many pages and the rest went supplemental (except for the main page), while another (that had been all supplemental except the index page for months) suddenly was fully indexed.

I'm thinking not all DC's are on the same page, as some pages that appear to have vanished from allinurl or site are still ranking highly in other instances.

Traffic in G is down, but not hugely so.

I'm not gonna freak yet. But we're at T-7 days before I do....

Yeah, I saw that too but think we can still learn something from the glitch or whatever it is. Also, he is only "pretty sure" and if he's like me, thats probably a 50/50 guess.

Anyhow, I would agree that it was probably just 'one wrench turn' too many.

Geez, you guys need to remember us newbies?

    What's a supplemental?

And is it really spelled with an i in the middle or should Skitzzo learn to use spell check?
