Pierre, why does ReviewMe 'suck' for the reviewers? Bad products should rather not get published reviews, though they might use some user/expert testing.

Pierre was saying that it sucked for the reviewers because people have to invite you to review them. That's a problem I've had as well. The review I did of SEO Book has been the only one I've done. Payperpost is a bit better in this respect.

As Skitzzo said: right now, I bet ReviewMe has most of their reviewers twiddling their fingers waiting for that magical money-waving request to come in.

I think my biggest gripe with it (the flaw in the system if you will) is that it links the payment with website metrics, completely disregarding the actual performance of the person (i.e., the intellectual input the reviewer puts in). That makes it a glorified way to buy links than reviews. I feel a follow up post coming up

Pierre

Yep, waiting on requests for ReviewMe is a great way to grow old and bored. Also, I just read on TechCrunch that PayPerPost is buying Performancing. Wow. That's an interesting turn of events.

Now I see your point. I have had several click throughs to my blog, though no requests to review anything.

Glad to hear I'm not alone on that.

I'm considering removing all paid links, ads, reviews, etc. from 14thC. That's not how I make money there anyway and the cash is does generate isn't worth risking my SERPs.

I have other sites I can include that stuff on, even for testing purposes.

DD, is Scoop making any cash for you?

Finally, yes. But it was a long time coming. However, I don't expect it will ever be the kind of cash that most of us are looking for when we put time and effort into a site. Still, at least now I feel like I'm not completely wasting my time.

Well, I am sure you show your blog to your clients, right? I do. That may be the biggest benefit of having a blog.

But I rarely take clients. I'll do the occasional quick consultation, but that's about all. But yes, of course, that would be a benefit if I did do client work.

Still, there are lots of blogs that aren't directly tied to services. Making money on those is an uphill climb.

Yeah, it is not easy to monetize a blog, considering people start to leave then.
