Lightbulb How can we make current members to Active Members

    Folks...

We have loads of members get registered here, that we know...
But how many are there active and participating actively....

is that coz they are not finding this place Informative ? Interesting ? respectful ?

I think we need More Members... and I know that some of us have fear of 'whether that will lead us to S* kinda Spam posts ' .

But I believe 'NOT'... Since we are here and we got good Admins too.. So on a situation anybody goes wrong, we can stop him/her in a respectful way.

The real need here is 'we need more questions' - NOT TO THE General (off topic) Topics SESSION - but On topics...

Obviously our clients may not be techies in SEO, so making them post here will give us a clear idea on their knowledge and we can literate them in SEO.
    - It is good for us too, if we are not cheating them, but SEOing -

How can we get more valuable Members or How can we make 100% of current members to Active Members....

    Please contribute your valid thoughts...

    I accept disagreements too.............

More newbies would be nice. Everyone here is intermediate level or higher it seems. Newbies would help ensure we really do have the basics down and their questions from ignorance may spark some interesting ideas. Also, they'll click the ads and make Skitz rich!

I see three questions within your post. I'll attempt to address all three.

    1. How can we get new members?
Promote the site. Reinstituted the "invite" feature, setup adwords, get as many BLs as possible, submit articles, the standard SEO martketing techniques.

    2. How can we get 100% of registered members to be active members?
Only one way, really, and that's even debatable. To have a 100% active membership, if a member is inactive, cancel his/her membership. I don't like doing that. Other than that, achieving 100% activity is not going to realistically happen. That's like trying to get 100% of registered voters to actually vote. It's a nice ideal, but not realistic.

    3. How do we generate more quality content?
This is dependent on a few factors. First, changes in the SEO world will generate new questions, concerns, and ideas. Otherwise, if the same group has already taught and learned all they can, then no growth occurs. Second, new members, whether they be less or more experienced, will ask new questions and propose new ideas. So new members are needed. Third, since I'm sure nobody in here knows absolutely everything SEO, there is always room to learn something. Once that new knowledge is obtained, (s)he should inform us, which will generate new quality content. Fourth, we start posting more and spend less time in the general areas. The problem is the general areas are part of the life of this place.
God knows where you are, but Google may not. SEO is the key that unlocks search engine success (and a plugin isn't enough).

Bradley Horowitz, of Yahoo!, spoke about this topic very nicely: Creators, Synthesizers, and Consumers. He framed his article in light of social services (flickr, delicious), but it applies to forums too.

The idea is that you will have a small, core, highly active group, and that scales up as the number of users grows. But in all, you will always have a MUCH, MUCH larger group who read ("use") what the core group produces.

All forums have that problem, some just don't list members versus active members, a lot of people join a forum and never make one post, so that is where you get that a lot of times!

It has nothing to do with the forum, look at the figures at DP and you will see what I am saying!

    Members: 24,696, Active Members: 11,239

I purge the member lists myself, there is a global control in vB where you can delete inactive members from the member list by many different factors, like number of posts or last log in date and so on!

Most of the time if they never made a post they get deleted for sure!

So thanks buddies... for your valid times...

and yeah.. you are right RMC, that's what I really meant by getting more newbies here. so that we can have some basic but threads sparking some ideas... - in the same way you mentioned...

I was not talking about how to get 100% active members.. but of course an increase in the current status,,,..

Anyway... it seems not relevant to the situation - am not seeing any comments say "yes we need to work on" from the admins -

But .... I was just wondering...

    Talking

When I start my "Wit = Elvis" campaign and my "Do you have better Legs than ToddLegs" contest we will draw them all in!

If that does not work we will get Nintendo to post more photos of himself!

Just don't give up, I am filled with great ideas!
