One of my clients who spends $10k plus a month in adwords had about 20 - 30 keywords jump to $13 minimum as well. I wasnt aware of the bug at the time so i just paused them all. No WAY I'm upping the minimum bid.

[...] So what exactly happened? Although its not quite clear at the moment, blogger Skitzzo says that the ads are not actually costing the advertisers $10, that is if they do not bid to that level. [...]

Google also loses millions in building costs because they don't turn the lights off in their buildings at night. There's no one in the buildings at night time, except for a few tech staff and a few janitors - but they leave almost all the lights in the building on including the cafeteria, and cubicles/desk spaces (which are unstaffed during the wee hours of the night). If they put the lights on a timer and dimmed it at night or even just turned off a few lights like the executive board rooms, they would stand to save millions.
