Even though posting has been a bit light here lately, it looks like some of our prior work has paid off. Daily Blog Tips published their list of the Top 25 SEO blogs and we were fortunate enough to make the list. We rolled in at #24 which, given the sporadic nature of posting here for the past month or so, I’m quite happy with. I would have preferred if they had used Feedburner subscribers rather than Bloglines because I think we have all of like 8 through Bloglines and one of those is me! Anyway, as I said, I’m pretty pleased with our placement and I think the article does a great job of picking out the top blogs in our niche. If you’re an SEO and you aren’t subscribed to most of those blogs, you’re missing out on a lot of great information.
Also, Chis Garrett owner of chrisg.com, guest blogger on CopyBlogger, and author of the fantastic free e-book Killer Flagship Content recently put out a call to his readers for links to their flagship content. I submitted our 10 Mistakes that Will Kill a Forum post which, year to date has accounted for 5% of all traffic to this site, and sure enough, Chris picked it to publish in his roundup. It was the culmination in a series of three very popular posts on forums which hit the front page of many of the social bookmarking sites and were linked to many times. Months later these posts all still bring in a fairly steady flow of traffic. That’s the power of flagship content, pillar posts, linkbait, or whatever you want to call it.
As I mentioned earlier, posting has been light here lately. If you’re a subscriber, I’m sure you’ve noticed. However, recent changes in my schedule should once again allow me to dedicate significant time to this blog and I might even be able to talk Pops into turning out some more of his cartoons that everyone seems to like so much. We’ll be making a few changes to the blog over the next couple of weeks that I’m hoping will help improve the “stickiness” and usability of the site. If you see anything broken or out of whack, please drop me a line but it’s safe to assume I’ve probably broken something. If you’re patient with me, I think we’ll end up with a better blog and a better resource for you, the readers.
Thanks!
