Regular visitors to the blog will, no doubt, have noticed that something looks different here. For quite a while our home page and blog have needed freshening and it’s finally happened. With any luck, we’ll apply a similar freshening to the forum in the next month or two.
The most obvious change is the design which is based upon a theme I created for another of sktzz’s sites. The more I work with WordPress the more impressed I become. I plan to keep on developing this theme, with the next step being to widgetize more of the content areas.
I’ve also incorporated a number of plugins to ease navigation, highlight some of the more interesting/popular posts, and help manage the blog. They include:
Secondly, the blog home page is now the SEOR home page. This was made possible by a tip from Yuri, which pointed us to Giving WordPress its Own Directory While Leaving Your Blog in the Root Directory.
All this required a bit of playing with the htaccess file, the permalinks, etc. So, if you find an issue or you have comments on the new design, let us know.
And, most importantly, skitz has promised to be more active here (and I agreed to try). So, you should be seeing plenty of fresh content in the near future. We’ve got a big (and timely) post that’s being edited right now that you’ll see in the next day or two and I’ve got a couple cartoons ready to go, so stay tuned (and maybe use that subscribe button at the top of the page).

2Looks fantastic! Much more dynamic and engaging… also professional in a way I didn’t realize was missing before. The cartoons are the finishing touch that really makes the new look sizzle. Great work Pops!
