    Another links test...

Ok, so, in a theory testing kind of mood today.

Here is one to test another assertion that people make, yet I have never seen a test for. I have heard that Google only gives weight to the first link it finds going to a specific page from a single page. If that is true, then only one of these two links should count:

    bortlebotts

    gumbnunnies

Any guesses or theories as to what will happen on this one...?

I've never tested it, but I believe that both will be counted, not just the first to appear in the code.... I guess we'll find out in a few days.

If I remember well, the test was done a long time ago by seo-guy... and the first link found in the code was the one that counted. But that was centuries ago, so I think a new test is the best to show this is still the case or not.

I prefer more than one test to conclude on this.... if possible from different referral sites. IMHO

IF the second link doesn't count at all, then it might be wise to rethink our strategies of having a hyperlinked logo at the top of a page and a keyword-rich text link at the bottom, both pointing back to the homepage of our site

    I'm curious. Great test

I have never heard this. Don't believe it though. I think both count. Maybe one higher than the other though.

    Well, I'll be!

Guess what guys, the page being linked to is only ranking for the first one:

    http://www.google.com/search?q=bortl...e=off&filter=0

Second anchor text is only showing for the actual post, cause it's on page text:

    http://www.google.com/search?q=gumbn...e=off&filter=0

I never would have guessed that. Wit, you are right... the linked logo concept might have to be re-thought. So, any other thoughts on this one?

    So it's still like before...

The picture has a good ALT and it should help... but nothing beats a good juicy text anchor.

Well, no... if you have the logo hyperlinked, then have a homepage link in the nav (with actual anchor text), the second one might not count.
